Best Time to Visit Vietnam — Region by Region
March 1, 20257 min read
Vietnam has three distinct climate zones, and they are almost never in season at the same time. Pick the wrong month for the wrong region and you'll spend your trip dodging typhoons.
The North (Hanoi, Halong, Sapa)
Best: October to April. Dry, cool, occasional fog. Avoid June–August (hot, humid, frequent storms in Halong).
The Center (Hue, Hoi An, Da Nang)
Best: February to August. September to January brings serious flooding risk in Hoi An.
The South (Ho Chi Minh City, Mekong, Phu Quoc)
Best: December to April. May to November is the wet season — afternoon thunderstorms most days, but mornings are usually clear.
The sweet spot for the whole country
If you want to do North → Center → South in one trip, February and March are the safest months across all three regions.
